This retrospective film screening presents three 20th Century films shot in Gaza: the PLO short film, Scene from Under Occupation In Gaza (Mustafa Abu Ali, 1973), clips from the documentary feature Gaza Ghetto (PeÅ Holmquist, Joan Mandell, and Pierre Björklund, 1985), and clips from the fiction feature film, Tale of the Three Jewels (Michel Khleifi, 1995). This event reflects on the strip's rich history of resistance to colonial occupiers. As part of this event there will be a post-screening discussion in the format of a roundtable, opening-up dialogue with the audience. The roundtable will critically reflect on the role, capability and limitations of film in building identities and responding to crisis and genocide in Gaza.
